My snottiest self responded to Pizza Hut adopt a bite ad campaign from the “hip” agency in London, where people “are doing the best work of their lives” God bless the poor souls
Things that resonate with viewers are funny, this is too far afield.
Adoptive parents don’t see their children as greasy snacks to devour, there is not enough of a relationship between your product and comedic foil. Satirical campaigns CAN be good with solid writers who understand the line between edgy and complete non-sequitor. Had it been a product that one nutures and cares for, with the solid talent, you may have been able to pull it off, then you would be dicey, smart agency you see yourselves as, as it was it just was as flat as a bunch of pudgy ambitious grade 6 students thinking themselves clever.
Keep trying, something strong and original and timely has got to come to you if you just keep trying.
It’s just got to!
Sometimes nothing is quite as satisfying as getting your bitch on.
I feel lighter now.
Ahhh Have a good day.

I trust that the commerical was in poor taste…especially since I do not watch hardly any television. I am sure if they (Pizza Hut) gets enough negative feedback, they will pull the commerical. Not sure how many people will take the time to voice their opinion directly to Pizza Hut, but you got my attention Joy so now I will look for it – the commerical and your other side.

Oh the commercial is gone Leroy, I just assumed everyone knew about it, it check out Susan, Kim and Claud’s blogs, it’s on there too.
It was pretty awful, comparing adoptees to some type of cheese filled roll, and adoptive parents having to be careful not to “feed them to the ducks”

Thanks for filling me in Joy (no pun intended!). I did check in on Kim’s blog and apparently even the link to the ad is no longer available. I would have thought Pizza Hut would have piloted a commerical as controversial as this one was since it had not only the potential but actually offended many folks. I think Pizza Hut owes adoptees and their parents an apology and lifetime supply of pizza BUT,
Like you Joy, we either make pizza from “scratch” or buy a cheese one from Walmart and then load it up with toppings.
I am sure they never expected the backlash they got on that commerical and I doubt it will ever see the “light of day” again.

Love it when you’re bitchy on behalf of us adoptees!

Thanks Nina, I like being bitchy on our behalf too, it is so much more fun than being shameful
